Sunday is Father's Day so I am wishing a happy one to my Dad. A very Happy Father's Day to the Dad who after I was born went out and hit a home run for the church baseball/softball ?? team because he was so excited I was there. Did I get that right?
Who started up his motorcycle every morning to go to work when I was a toddler and waved back to me only to watch me tear up as he drove off for the day.
Who took me to fly a kite and got it stuck in a tree.
Who put me on the back of his motorcycle when I was 5 or 6 to go get a fudgesicle.
Who passed on to me the gift of picking up everyone else's strange mannerisms. Really, it IS a gift!
Who taught me correct grammar so that I will forever be annoyed with those who don't speak correctly.
The same goes with spelling.
Who never could teach me to love math because it's dumb.
Who scared away all the boys...except one.
Who could just quiver his lip and make me cry.
Who thought he could eat all of the fudge in front of the three of us kids....but I showed him!
Who ran the Boston Marathon and still laces up his running shoes and loves to run in the heat of the day.
Who runs probably so he can eat like it's his job.
Who gave me the last name Truax....and moved us south to where no one else had ever heard of it.....or could pronounce it....therefore it was ALWAYS mispronounced. Seriously people! Tru...ax. Just like it's spelled. It's not that hard!
So there you have it. Happy Father's Day Dad.
Love,
Tara
