Part Three

And here are the rest of the pictures as promised.  What's a little time in the country without shooting off a gun?  Hmm?  ;)

Emma is getting a lesson on proper form here.

Her first time shooting a gun!

Then Cody had a turn at it.  This is just the beginning I'm sure!

Fair-skinned beauty.

And lastly, one of our neighbors. :)

More pictures from Saturday: Part Two

House pictures continued.....(actually it's really more of just the kids, I mean how many pictures can one take of cinder blocks?)

This is Beau playing in our future basement.

Massive dirt hill=kid magnet.

And this would be what Cory was doing while he waited on us to arrive.  Pretty good shot I'd say.

"Boys, you take a stick."

"And then a rock."

"And this is how it's done."

And that's how you play Redneck Baseball friends.

Yes, I have more pictures so this is once again...to be continued......

An Extended Vacay from Facebook AND new house pictures. Part One.

You know what's nice?  Taking an extended time away from Facebook.  For me, it's been since Wednesday I think.  Except for posting a link to this blog, responding to messages or comments (don't want to be rude!), and posting one picture, I haven't scrolled through status updates AT ALL!
It's bliss.
It's like the olden days.  You know, before there ever was social media?  It makes my life just a LITTLE simpler.  That's a good thing, I think.
It's good for alot of things though, of course.  I love it for keeping up with good friends and seeing their pictures or updates and making my own of course.  I'm not sure how long I will refrain but it's so refreshing really.  It also kind of goes along with my post about redeeming the time.  I have more time!
I also have my head in my own business.  My own little family right here.  I can focus better on them without thinking about the last thing I read on Facebook that has nothing to do with me!

Onto a different subject. :)  Yesterday the kids and I joined the very hard-working head of household out at the house site.  I took some pictures of course and I'll share just a few with you now.

Here is a view of the basement part of the house from the backyard.  The driveway goes up past the right side of the barn.  The barn will be knocked down and some of the metal and wood will be used somewhere in the house.

This is a view of the hill behind the house.  I'm going to have fun taking walks up this hill and through the woods to the field behind.  Not to mention just walking to get the mail every day!

A lovely bird sitting on one of our garden stakes.

A little boys paradise.

Picking weeds.

More to come...

It's The Country Life For Me

For my friends who may not see the updates via facebook, here is an update of the land/building progress.

We have a rough dirt/gravel driveway now and the basement is still in the process of being dug out.  As I type, Cory is out there putting up the new temporary gate with his dad.  Emma and Cody are there with him.  I was supposed to join them but Beau has what seems to be a mild stomach virus.  :(  So that's why I don't have pictures to share.  I'm just here loving on my baby, taking him for walks, reading books, and cleaning up what he can't seem to keep down.  :/ It's turned out to be a rather peaceful day though.  He is currently taking a nap.  Right now it's quiet, and I'm grateful for the peace.  :)

I'm excited to watch the progress of our new home place.  Gravel and dirt thrill me!  Especially because I know it's getting me one step closer to our new home.  Building a house is no joke.  As I watch my husband manage everything, work a full-time job, AND spend time with us I realize how blessed I really am.  Several weeks ago I showed him a quaint little picture of a claw foot tub with a chandelier hanging over it.  It was on Pinterest.  Doggone that Pinterest!  Anyways, he had already planned the claw foot tub for our bathroom.  When I showed him the picture of the chandelier he said something like, "we'll see."  I thought that well, if it didn't work out then it just wouldn't work out.  No big deal.  Well he just finished the electrical plan for the house this week and don't you know he designed it with the chandelier/lighting right above the tub.  Bless him.  He aims to please and I am...well... I am just tickled about a claw foot tub with chandelier!

This is the picture I was describing.

The next several months will be trying.  Building a house is, for lack of a better description, a pain in the butt.  But it will be worth it in the end when it's finally complete.

I have lots of dreams for our place in the country.  A lot.  Many of them won't happen as soon as we move of course.  Apparently you can't build a house AND have a farm complete with animals, barn, and mini-crops!  Oh well. :) I AM looking forward to slowly building it up though.  We'll start with a garden and a dog and just go from there I suppose.

My kids will have acres of exploring and imaginative play.  Many of my fondest memories were of playing outside as a kid.  I loved being outside and I still do!  I want that for my kids.  Kids were made to be outdoors.  It's also necessary to the sanity of mothers.  Amen?  Yes.

I still haven't met the neighbors across the road but Cory has met them.   They seem like very nice down to earth country people from what I gather.  And a young couple bought the house neighboring our property and are expecting their first baby.  How fun?!  Cory's best friend from childhood lives literally right around the corner with his wife and daughter.  I see lots of get-togethers in our future. :)

I imagine bonfires with family and friends, raising animals, trying my hand at planting (vegetables and flowers), nature walks with the kids, decorating our simple rustic home, and getting to know the neighbors.

It's the country life for me.  Big trucks.  Fresh air and wildlife.  Boots.  Country folk and gun shootin'.

Where the green grass grows I suppose.

When Cory and I were dating we had a song that was "our song".  It was "Where the green grass grows" from Tim McGraw.  It's an oldie but goodie and I still love it.

"I'm gonna live where the green grass grows
Watch my corn poppin' up in rows
Every night be tucked in close to you"

"Raise our kids where the good Lords's blessed
Point our rocking chairs toward the west
And plant our dreams where the peaceful river flows
Where the green grass grows"

It sounds alllllriiight to me.  :)

Just having a little fun and a short update.

It's been awhile, huh?  Eight days to be exact.  That's a long time! ;)  Actually it's been a busy week....good busy though.  This past week was pretty normal with school work and all the every day stuff we do 'round here.

Thursday we packed our suitcases for a night at The Great Wolf Lodge.  It was a  Christmas gift to the kids from Cory's sister and his parents.  Ok, actually we BOTH had a pretty good time too. :)  The best part was watching the kids have a blast though!  It was two days of water fun, donuts, pizza, and gift cards to spend on whatever they wanted.  Christmas in January!  A big THANKYOU to Aunt Summer and Nana and Pop.

They also took all three kiddos for the rest of the weekend!  SO, I made good use of the time by catching up on fun stuff like cleaning and laundry of course, a long trail run, dinner in Charlotte with Cory, and a nose piercing.  Then there was church this morning, lunch, and then Sara C.'s baby shower.

Huh? What?

Did she say nose piercing?

Yes.  Yes, I finally did it.

Just a teeny tiny little decoration.  :)

That's all.  ;)

Not so bad!  Actually Cory said it was a good thing the big dude that pierced it told me to close my eyes and breath in and out slowly.  Apparently he didn't want me to see the HUGE needle he was going to stick me with!

AnyWAYS.

Here is a house update.  Cory and his Uncle Daniel got the area staked off where the house will sit.  He said that when they shot the elevation for the house, the lay of the land and the grade worked out perfectly.   Now we are just waiting to see when the "grader dude" can get started.

I'm thinking I have a lot to learn about building houses!  Grader dude?

House Plans

So I stopped by to pick up a little something at Duncan Parnell today.  Our newly printed house plans!!

Front

Back
I like it. :)  Brick, tin roof and screened porch.

It's going to be a hairy few months once it gets started.  My husband is going to be busy, busy.

BUT, Lord willing, it's going to be our forever house.

Or as Cory has put it, "until they carry my body out".

Ok.  : /

A new home for the Peters's

This is my husband.

He's been busy working on something.

Something I should be very excited about...and I am.

I took this picture of him on the night he finished our house plans.  OUR HOUSE PLANS!!!!

They are done.

Finished!

What does this mean?

This means that, Lord Willing, our house will get started soon.  Very soon actually.  Hopefully next month!

I am so proud of my husband and the house he has designed for us.  I can't wait to see it take form!

I'll keep updating as things move forward of course.  :)

The Beginnings of a New Life

A new gate has been set up. Part of the fields mowed down with a tractor that is FULL of mischief. One hard working husband and his dreamer wife. Three kids who will grow up countrified. 24 acres just waiting for memories to be made and deer slayed. Hey, that rhymes. And one house yet to be built. But it's coming....and I can't wait.

I can't wait to walk outside and smell the country air if the wind isn't blowing from across the road where the neighbors chickens are.

I can't wait to see wild animals. Even if that includes my offspring.

I can't wait to hear the sound of nothing unless there is shootin' goin' on.

I can't wait to go hiking on my own land and shoot a coon out of the tree. Yes, it's been done already. Just not by me. You can guess who.

I can't wait to make friends with the neighbors even if they smell like moonshine. I ain't kidding you about that one right there.

I can't wait for the garden full of fresh veggies and the deer probably can't wait either.

So many things to look forward to! I'm being totally serious about all of that too. :)
