Training update: I took the week off from running.  I got bored. ~shrug~  It happens!  I needed a change of scenery and a different challenge.  Cross-training was in order.  So for this week I have done a spin class, walked with the kids, and a tone and burn class.  Tone and BURN.  Seriously.  I didn't know what to expect but it hurt so good.  Lots of plyometric type intervals with upper body high rep weight training.  Ouch.  My shoulders, biceps and bum are so very ouchy.  But for tomorrow, it's back to the schedule.  A 9 miler. :/  I have mixed feelings about that.  Slow and steady gets it done. (By the way, I'm training for a half-marathon)  Why oh why do I always bite off more than I can chew?  Or did I?  Time will tell I suppose.   :)

A Few Random Updates

  • I know I haven't updated about the house building process but we are still moving forward however slow it may seem.  And it DOES seem slow.  Believe me.  Anyways, the land has been bushhogged (is that a word?) again and Cory is currently getting estimates from "driveway and basement digging dudes."  He met the third one just this afternoon.  So there IS some progress being made.  I know once it gets started though it will go much faster.  Soon.  Very soon.
  • Today is my moms birthday.  She is a great mom and just as great a mother-in-law.  She loves my husband like a son and never puts him down either to his face or behind his back.  She also handed down the making of homemade apple pie to me.  :)  He is blessed I'd say.
  • I am looking forward to Christmas with the kids.  Gifts, Pancakes (breakfast), Lasagna (dinner) and apple pie for dessert.
  • After all of that food talk I now come to a running update (for any of you interested in that sort of thing).  I'm considering a half-marathon in the spring.  Training starts next month.  I've also been doing some cross-training to keep from getting injured...or bored!
  • We are taking a break from homeschooling until the beginning of the year.  I'm going to try some new things.  A new year, a new schedule.
And that's all folks!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Personal Record right there.

This would be me with my cute little trophy!  This is the same race that I ran last year after being just 4 months post-partum with  my little Beau.  This year I did a lot better even though the same feeling of "I think I'm going to die if I make my heart and lungs work any harder" was still there.

My time was 26:40, (I thought it was 2 seconds faster but I guess I was wrong).  Ah well.  Anyways, I realize that that time may seem slow to some and fast to others but I'm content with it for now.  I probably could have rested up more, carb-loaded, done more speed work, blah, blah, blah.  But I have a life, a family and friends so yeah, I'm happy with that time!  Running isn't my life.  It's just something I do to stay healthy and fit.  But you better believe little miss teased pig tails if I come back next year.....I.AM.GOING.TO.SMOKE.YOU.

Never say never!

This week I joined back up at the gym.  I kind of  REALLY can't believe I did that.  I didn't really WANT to do that either.

But I did.

Up until a year ago I pretty much had a gym membership for 10+ years.  Then after Beau was born I just got tired of it.  I decided to run instead.  Nothing but running.  I was happy with that.  I LIKE running and I lost the baby weight and got fit again.  I said I was done with the gym.

Until now.  Uggh.

I tried a class this morning and I'm thinking I'll be a little sore.  I guess that means it was time to change things up a bit.  I will still run when I can of course.  It's my preference.  But I have to admit that it was nice to try something different.  It was time I suppose.  So maybe I kind of do like going to the gym again.  :)

Never say never.
