Today

I love days like today.

Simple days.

It's been another unusually warm day in February.  This morning we went to the gym but the rest of the day has been spent here at home.  The windows have been open ALL day.  I love the fresh air blowing through the house.

We played outside.

Then I made two things I found on Pinterest.  Cory's parents are coming to dinner tomorrow night.  So today I made some homemade salsa.  Then I made a chocolate cake.  I don't know how the cake will be but the homemade frosting is awesome.  It will definitely kick the butt of that "Green Velvet" cake I made last weekend.  :)  I'm hoping we can hold off demolishing it before tomorrow night!

Some laundry.

Painting. (the kids, not me.)

A game of Alphabet Go Fish.  (That was one of our consignment shop finds yesterday. )

Just. Enjoying. My. Kids.  That was the plan.

Being. Grateful.

Living simply.

Carpe Diem

What a beautiful Carolina day.  :)

The windows were open.

Some time was spent outside.

A hair cut (trim and layers) for a certain little girl.

Smoothies for all.

A visit to the consignment shop.

Math.

Preschool games.

And an hour of spin class.

I found these shape/peg toys at the consignment shop that had never been opened.

She got her American Girl magazine in the mail today and she read it from front to back.
"This is fuzz you Mom."

Just grateful that I get to spend every day with them.

Life is good.

Green Velvet Cake

I love coffee in the mornings, don't you?

My day was a busy one.  Not hectic busy but just full, you know?  I spent the morning at home with the kids while Cory took care of something out at the house site.  I finished up a little laundry and ironing, not that it's ever "finished" really.  Oh and I baked a cake.  It was a "from scratch" cake with homemade frosting.

Here it is.  It's Red Velvet.  Well, actually we can call it "Green" Velvet cake.  I didn't have enough red food coloring.  So I went with blue.  I don't know why.  I thought blue might be pretty.  It turned out green.  BUT, that's ok.  :)  It still tastes the same.  Heh heh.
My friend Amy M. came by for a bit and had some green tea with me.  She should have had some green cake to go with it.  ;)

I got through my 9 miles this afternoon.  It was a gorgeous day to run and I was thankful for that.

Dinner with the family cooked by hubby, clean-up, and baths and I'm exhausted.
Tuckered.
Pooped.

Goodnight.

A piece of cake

At The Bakers Rack.

Having a sampler. :)

Emma received a cooking/baking class at The Bakers Rack for Christmas from her Aunt Summer.  When I saw this week that they had spots still open for a cake baking and decorating class I signed her right up.  She had a blast!
It was a 2 hour class and she came home with a cake and additional cupcakes that she made and decorated herself.

:)
It was such a fun and different kind of activity. We may even go back just to sit and have a cupcake sometime.  They looked amazing!
Happy Weekend!
