Boys will be boys or some would say Boys will be girls? NOT my boy!

The latest book I've been reading is "Bringing Up Boys" by Dr. Dobson. I'm not quite finished yet but getting close. I have a new appreciation for my son and how God created him now since reading it. I've learned some alarming things but some helpful as well. One thing I was not expecting to feel as I read this book though is a new and growing appreciation for the freedom and opportunity to homeschool. I have read about the detrimental affects the feminist movement has had on men and boys and how it has moved into the schools. Imagine that (sarcasm)! 'They' are trying to make boys behave more like girls and encourage girls to be more like boys. Insanity! Boys were made to be....boys! They need to run, jump, be rambuncious! It's who they are! They need to explore, get dirty, build things, climb trees, shoot birds and cats...okay maybe they shouldn't exactly do That even though their fathers did. ;) I am glad that I can keep him home and encourage him in his "boyness".
I'm not entirely sure what kind of learner Cody is going to be yet at almost 3 years of age but I have a pretty good idea that he isn't going to be the kind who will want to sit in a classroom for long periods of time. No, he'll have the opportunity to play outside in the morning, or the middle of the day, or in the afternoon.... whatever works for us! He wouldn't be able to do that if he was in school all day. That's just one of the things that makes homeschooling so awesome. I will be able to work with his own personality and learning style to help him become all that God had designed him (and his siblings) to be. It's an honor and it's exciting too. :)
