Antique, vintage, sentimental, etc.
I know that once this house gets finished, and I finally feel like I'm settled enough to decorate, then I will have a mixture of new and old and it's gonna be JUST right.
So here is part one of "Old Stuff".
The Grandfather clock from Germany.
This was given to us by Cory's grandfather (fitting) who found this beauty in Germany while stationed there for the Army.
This clock is actually just one of dozens of clocks that he found in old barns, basements, and bartered with the German folk to purchase. Then he shipped them all over to the US.
Pretty cool.
It has amazing detail.
I love the mahogany color.
Meet Myrtle.
Ain't she a beut? That's real person hair too by the way. This porcelain dolly was my great-grandmothers. I never met her. She was my mom's dad's mother. And her name was Myrtle. So I named the doll after her. Make sense? But now she belongs to me. Actually I've had her since I was a little girl but she will someday belong to Emma. Emma is more than ready to take ownership but she's just gonna have to wait just a little longer. :)
So dainty.
This next one is more vintagy. In fact it's not really a decoration. Unless you consider it finger decoration.
This is a ring that used to belong to my mom. Can you tell it's from the 70s? I don't even think she knows that I have it and I've had it a long time. I wore it all day today and felt all vintagy like. :)
And here is a REALLY olllld knick knack I guess you could say.
My baby shoe.
It used to be a black patent leather shoe that my G.C. kept. She had it dipped in ceramic and gave one to me and the other to my mom.
Most of these things were given to us and it has struck me how blessed my husband and I are to have such an incredible heritage.
I have some other old stuff but that's for another time.
