A Bed and Breakfast kind of time

Sunday was our 12th anniversary.

We actually went somewhere other than the beach.

Now I love the beach.  I really do.  And I would have been TOTALLY fine with going to the beach for our anniversary but Cory had other plans.  I am so glad!  That man sure does come up with some great ideas.

He found this bed and breakfast on the internet and showed it to me.  I would consider nothing else after that.  It looked perfect to me and just like our kind of place.  It sounded so cozy and comfortable and was complete with river and a sweet old dog. :)

So we made reservations, dropped off the kiddos with Nana and Pop, and headed for the MOUNTAINS!

The Baird House
This is the view from the Watauga River that flows down right in front of the house.  Circa 1790.  So much history there!

Watauga River

Saturday morning I woke up to the smell of bacon and mountain fresh air blowing in through the open windows.  No need for AC here.

Cory and I decided to go for a walk before breakfast that morning.  The road followed the river and continued on past the house which eventually turned into a dirt road so here are some pictures of the view we had during our walk.

Breakfast was amazing.  I expected that it would be and the Hinsons did not disappoint!

Mast General Store

We visited the Mast General Store where I had coke in a glass bottle because Coke just tastes better in a glass bottle!

We  also went to Blowing Rock and paid over 8 bucks for two icecream cones.

On our way to dinner

A cool old house on our way to dinner

I'm on my anniversary trip.  Don't judge me! ;)

This is Cory eating some amaaaazzzing banana pudding.  I would have had some too if I hadn't been so stuffed from dinner.

 :)

This is my favorite picture of Cory from the weekend.  It was my idea because he is not a fan of having his picture taken.  But I think it suits him don't you?

I said I would get my feet in this river before we left and so I did.

We headed home Sunday afternoon but stopped first at the Raffaldini Vineyards at the suggestion of  Deede.

One last little fun experience before heading back to be mommy and daddy!

We had a great time and met some really awesome people this past weekend.

We had good food and great conversation.

A big thanks to Cory's parents for watching our 3 crazy kids this weekend!  Happy Anniversary to us. :)
