Running shoes, sand, and a scorching hot sun!

So here's a little running update.  It's HOT outside people!!  It's officially scorching and ridunkulously hot.  And guess what?  I'm liking it.  I hate cold and since it gets dark annoyingly early in the winter it's hard fitting in a run early OR late in the day.  So I am NOT complaining.

I was able to fit in a couple of runs last week while we were at the beach (more on that later) and it was fun and hot and crowded!  I didn't like that part as much.  I'm used (spoiled) to OKI having not so many people but I guess that's the way it goes on a holiday weekend.  I had to dodge way too many little kids, half-naked adults, and waves.  By the time I got back to the house I was slightly dehydrated but it felt good when I was done.

In the past I would run barefooted.  I learned the hard way that tender footsies will blister up fairly quickly on the rough sand and shell bits.  Now I just put up with sand in my shoes.  :)

I have no idea how far I ran those two days.  I never measure it out.  At home I just go by time but I didn't have a watch with me at the beach so I just ran until I thought I should probably turn around and head on back before I got carried away and overdid it.

I'm looking forward to this summer of running and hoping that the winter holds off as long as possible!
