A day at the beach

Easter is almost over and Cody's chocolate bunny is almost gone. I guess he kind of likes chocolate a little bit. Just like his mama. :) Emma is more like my husband in that she will save things until they are almost no good anymore. Beau didn't get candy but I must say he was quite content with his .99cent pinwheel!

We took off for the beach house on Friday afternoon. It was a cloudy, sometimes drizzly drive, but the kids were good and all was well and we arrived by 2:30. Then our key wouldn't open the door. Not to worry though. After Cory hyperventilated we finally got in! Yay! So as I unpacked and tried to keep Beau happy and his fingers out of outlets, Cory pressure washed the front porch and screened porch. Then it was time to get a few groceries, eat a little something and try to kill some time with our energetic bunch before bedtime. So first we drove to the lighthouse.

Yep, there's the lighthouse. Ok, now what? Well back to the house I guess.

Now it was no longer raining. Sooo we decided to take the kids out on the beach to...I don't know....walk around on the sand but not really get TOO dirty.

Yeah right.

The water is a LITTLE cold this time of year. It IS only April after all. But wouldn't you know they went right for that water and soaked themselves completely and loved every second of it. Cody even stripped his pants right off because they were of course a hindrance to his fun since they were now weighted down with the water. So my little boy ran around with his bare buns shining for all of the world to see. We were so proud!

Well it was back to the house for baths, snacks, and bedtime. I love bedtime!

But Beau was having none of it.

He was in a strange place, he had a doggone tooth cutting through, and his nose was starting to run. What??!! I gave him some tylenol (because I'm an awesome mom and I was prepared! ;) ) and then put him back to bed. Finally he went to sleep. Phew!

But then he woke up again. Uugh! Well it was late and this mama was tired so I brought him into bed with me and fed him again and by the time he was done eating he had gone to sleep. On my arm. In a funny position. He finally rolled off of my arm and basically rolled all over every inch of the bed that night. I couldn't sleep for fear he would fall off!

Bump!

I sit up and check to see if Beau is ok. Yep, he was still on the bed. Phew! So what was that exactly?

Wait, did Cody fall off the bed and hit the wall in the other room? I listen....yep, that's him mumbling and whining. Sure enough! Time to let Cory handle that one. hehheh. :)

BUT, after all of that we had a great day the next day. The weather was beautiful, I got to go for a run on the beach, the kids had a blast playing, and Beau was happy to just sit on the blanket and play with a plastic spoon. Emma and Cody even got icecream at the Leaky Tiki. :)

Then we packed it all up, cleaned up the house and hit the road at 8:30 p.m. The kids slept and I tried to stay awake but drifted in and out towards the end of the trip. Cory was on a mission to get home (we made record time!) and I think if I hadn't been so tired I may have been scared for my life a bit on those country backroads. Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were some deer spotted and I KNOW I remember a small bunny who almost lost his life when he darted out. I didn't hear a bump so I'm guessing he made it. It was probably the Easter bunny. ;)

So now it's Sunday night and it's past my bedtime which is probably the reason for the Easter bunny joke. Haha. I'm headed to bed. Night.
