Tomorrow we will be celebrating Emma's seventh birthday. Her choice for dinner? Little Caesars pizza. Same as last year. With breadsticks. We cannot forget the breadsticks! =)
I've been thinking back to the day I found out that I was pregnant and how elated I was! I had always wanted to be a mom and now it was reality. I remember the first time I saw her little peanut-looking self on the ultrasound and how I cried when I saw her heart beating. Then came all of the check-ups, the day we found out she was a girl, and the question of WHEN was I going to show already! I think I was 6 months along before I finally got a little belly! I remember specifically one night how she kicked and turned and it felt like she was dancing inside of me. And now she dances and practices her ballet everywhere she goes.
Just a few weeks before I was due the doctors realized that Emma was still head up. She had not turned to prepare for delivery and we discussed what to do about it. I made an appointment to go in and let them try to manually turn her head down. It didn't work. A cesarean appointment was made. So on December the 1st, 2003, Cory and I drove to the hospital and became parents for the very first time. And of course I cried. And I'm crying now. They wrapped her up and handed her to Cory and he held her sweet little face next to mine and she scowled and pouted. I think I would have too!
Now here we are seven years later and hoping and praying for many more to come. She is our pretty ballerina who loves books and Everything bagels and Little Caesars Pizza with breadsticks.
So I'm wishing my Emma a very happy birthday!
